We're Baaackk!

.... And this time, it's for real (((beam)))

Yes, it's been almost a year since I last blogged on "Musings on Sesame Street". Almost a year of Wan Mikhail's life undocumented. Almost the entire era of the Terrible Twos without evidence... *sigh*

Okay, no more excuses, no more justifications and no more procrastinating. I've missed blogging and I've missed my fellow Mommy-Bloggers. So yeah, Mikhail's Mommy is back in business!

Brief Updates:-

Wan Mikhail Wan Syahrul Amry is now THREE (3) Years Old

He is extremely talkative, argumentative and is known to crack jokes. Basically, he gets the debating part from Mommy and the joke-cracking part from Daddy.

Mikhail will be talking non-stop and wise-cracking and arguing about everything under the sun and neither of us feel like we can do anything about it because... well... he reminds us too much of ourselves. So we just sit there amused and bemused, trading glances at each other and the occassional barb "He's sooooo your son".

One classic Mikhail conversation I just have to share:-

It was bedtime. He's all snuggled up with me but he refuses to sleep, claiming that he's not sleepy. So I drone on about how it's time to sleep and his foot is sleepy, his tummy is sleepy, his eyes are sleepy and so on so forth. It seemed to have worked so I stopped... waiting to hear his soft snores so I can make my great escape.

Then his voice pipes up in the dark... "Mommy, my belly-button tak sleepy pun".
........ and once again, he renders his Mommy speechless.

Mikhail is still very much a Water-Baby

He loves the water. If you don't consider the times where he refuses to take his bath. But that's more of a power issue than a don't-like-water issue. Anyway, Mikhail can now do a pretty good impersonation of a swimmer in his floaties. And we've been reducing the air in the floaties to prepare him to go floaty-free one day soon. And he has since lost his disgust over sand beneath his feet so he enjoys beach-trips tremendously these days.

Floating away, under the sun...

At 3 years old, Mikhail has developed a Sense of Humor to rival his Daddy...
...and a Temper worse than his Mommy...

Mikhail has a curse word. Which he uses when he wants to be funny or when he's angry. It can be used to suit both purposes. The word is "Babat".

I would lecture him about playing with his food and he'll say nothing until I turn my back... then he goes "Mommy BABAT!" And thus he will then earn another lecture about manners.
That's how he uses 'Babat' in anger.

He also uses it to be funny. We'll be singing nursery rhymes in the park and I will know that he's had enough of it when he cheerily serenades me with "Baaaabat Black Sheeeppp".....

Mikhail also has a sense of humor that creeps up at the weirdest of times.
A couple of days ago, I woke up with an extremely dry, sore throat. My voice was practically non-existent and I was trying to get Mikhail to put on his shoes but he was still lazing about, watching TV. So I suppose I must've raised my voice a bit.

He turns to me with wide-eyes like he just made an amazing discovery and chirped "Mommy! Suara Mommy macam chipmunk!"....
Need I tell you that he's a big fan of Alvin, Simon and Theodore? *sigh*

As for his temper... My goodness. Worse than me, worse than his Atok... which is saying a lot.
He is just sooo ... the only word that fits is a Kelantanese word... 'Bekeng'. When he's mad, you can just see his entire face turn red and his facial expressions is that of a stone. I've seen him actually tremble with fury.

Once, he got mad at me because I refused to let him watch cartoons at night. He was holding-on to the remote and trying to argue his way out of his TV curfew when I reached out and turned off the TV switch.
He face hardened as he threw the remote on the floor and yelled "Okay FINE!". He then stomped into his room and... slammed the door.

He's THREE but he behaved like a TEENAGER! So I just did what the books tell me to do. Ignore his behaviour and wait it out. Sure enough, a couple of minutes later, he sneaks out of the room, climbs into my lap, puts his head on my shoulder and whispers "Sorry Mommy". He whispered because he didn't want Daddy to hear. Oh, did I mention that Mikhail has an ego? :P

But don't get me wrong. His temper-tantrums are few and far between. Most of the time, he's awfully good-natured and is hilarious company. We can't seem to get enough of his antics!

One second he's about to get angry...
...The next second, he's back on his funny-mode!

So that's all for now. Just to let you guys know that we're back (((beam)))

Oh, one last update (in case anyone of you was about to ask)...

It's still just the Three of Us ;)
